Our co-op has enrolled in CHF Canada’s Risk Management Program. This program helps us find and fix risks that could affect our co-op. Managing risks early can help prevent expensive problems or reduce damage if something goes wrong.

Because the board has committed to this program, out co-op will also receive a discount on our commercial insurance.

In February, board members took part in a risk management training session along with another local co-op, Unified Saint John Housing Co-op. They learned simple ways to spot risks and reduce them.

The next steps in the program include:

• Unit Inspections: We will inspect one-third (1/3) of our units and noting any issues using the Risk Management Plan template.
• Risk Management Plan: We will use the inspection results to complete a Risk Management Plan using CHF Canada’s online tool. This plan will be reviewed and updated every year.
